COLUMBUS — Dilue Rose Harris chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) members Kath leen Townsen and Donna Pus- tejovsky presented the Pioneer Life Trunk Show to Columbus Elementary fourth graders on Dec. 1.
Tammy Ruether, Kristen Boatman and Katrina Delga dillo's classes participated.
Many items in a pioneer home during the early 1800s were displayed and discussed.
These objects included house- hold goods, clothing, toys, maps, replica money, etc. The students had many comments or questions and compared these items to what they have today. They were also allowed to handle, use, experiment, and play with the items. Many students liked the idea of using these “old-fash- ioned" things, but would miss their modern-day convenienc es.
