The Austin County Sheriff's Office wants the community to be aware of subjects operating a paving scam in the area. In most cases, these scammers will arrive at your home and make an unsolicited offer to pave your driveway. They claim they have leftover material from a nearby job and they can do the job for a
lower price.
The scammers will typically ask for cash up front and, in many instances, demand more cash while threatening to leave the job unfinished. If they complete the job, the scammers use a thin, watered-down asphalt mix that will crumble once the job is finished.
The Austin County Sheriff's Office has an ac tive investigation into the paving scammers. Please report any suspicious encounters with these scammers to law enforcement.
