EAGLE LAKE — Rice Medical Center, along with the Eagle Lake Volunteer Fire Department, Colorado County EMS and Sheriff's Office, DPS, Rice Consolidated Independent School District, the Colorado County Emergency Management and the Southeast Texas Regional Advisory Council, met on Jan. 13 at the Rice Medical Center campus for a tabletop exercise to walk through the process of handling a mass casualty situation if one should arise in Colorado County.
Chief Nursing Officer with Rice Medical Center, Shelly Carter, said, “Tabletop exercises allow hospitals and community resources the opportunity to practice life-saving decisions before a real emergency happens, so when lives are on the line, teams are prepared, coordinated and faster.”
