WEIMAR — In a positive step forward, the Weimar City Council named Interim Weimar City Manager David Mason as the full-time city manager for the city of Weimar on Jan. 15.
Mason was appointed the interim city manager on Nov. 17, 2025, after the former city manager, Donald Dixson, resigned in light of possible criminal allegations against him. He also stepped in as interim city manager in March of 2025 when the city and the then-current city manager, Richard Whitten, who held the position for about a year, was unable to reach an agreement for a new contract.
Mason has been with the city for 18 years and has served as Weimar's financial director and filled in other areas when the need arose.
Mason has effectively led the city as its chief financial officer and as the interim city manager.
