LA GRANGE — The Fayette County Czech Heritage Society gathered Feb. 15, at Hanslik Hall at the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center (TCHCC) for its annual Soup Social and February meeting.
Attendees enjoyed a variety of homemade soups, sandwiches, and desserts.
The business meeting started with the installation of the new 2026 officers. Scholarship opportunities were highlighted during the meeting. The Fayette County CHS High School Scholarship, valued at $500, is open to local students and has applications due April 1.
A State CHS $500 Victor Peter and a $1,000 Albert Blaha scholarship are available for first-year college students and high school seniors throughout Texas. More information is available on the State CHS website.
The Fayette County CHS Chapter continues to search for youth of Czech or Slovak descent ages 6-26 who are interested in being crowned Fayette County CHS Royalty and representing Fayette County at the state pageant. This is a valuable opportunity for young people to develop leadership skills and deepen their connection to their heritage. Please contact the chapter for more details.
The chapter is also preparing for a fundraiser at the La Grange Farmer’s Market on Saturday, April 18. Members plan to offer homemade baked goods, including kolaches and strudel, along with noodles and farm-fresh eggs. Proceeds will support chapter programs and community involvement.
The next Fayette County CHS meeting will be the annual picnic, featuring sausage wraps, bingo, and a silent auction, Saturday, June 6 at 6 p.m.
