League of Women Voters of South Central Texas celebrates women making history

LA GRANGE - Join the International Women's Day for an afternoon of inspiration, community, and celebration as we honor six extraordinary women from South Central Texas.

The League of Women Voters of South Central Texas invites you to its fourth annual Women Making History event on Sunday, March 8, at 3 p.m. at the Historic Casino Hall, 254 N. Jefferson Street, La Grange.

This year, six outstanding women — selected from dozens of community nominations across Colorado, DeWitt, Fay- ette, Gonzales, and Lavaca counties — will be recognized for contributions that reflect the very best of our region. Honorees will be celebrated across categories that tell the full story of what it means to make history: courage, determination, heritage, initiative, steadfastness, and vision.

The afternoon will also fea- ture the League's Third Annual Student Writing Showcase, in which four area high school students will present their award-winning essays and poetry celebrating heroic women from Texas history. Their voices are a powerful reminder that the next generation is paying attention — and that the story of women's history is still be- ing written. Light refreshments will be served, and all are welcome.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance at lwvsouthcentraltx. org or at the door. Advance purchase is encouraged. Come celebrate the women who have shaped our community — and inspire the next generation to do the same.
