AUSTIN COUNTY — Members of the Extension Education Association of Austin County recently hosted an educational program focused on Chair Yoga for Seniors, providing participants with practical strategies to support mobil- ity, flexibility, and overall well-being.
The program was conducted by EEA members Shirley Beum and Joan Buenger, who led the session, emphasizing safe, accessible movement tailored specifically for older adults.
During the program, the two ladies shared and demonstrated numerous chair yoga exercises that can be done in the comfort of their homes.
Participants learned the purpose and benefits of each movement, including improved balance, increased circulation, reduced muscle stiffness, and stress relief.
The hands-on demonstrations allowed members to actively participate and gain confidence in doing the exercises independently, reinforcing the value of chair yoga as a simple yet effective way to support healthy aging and a healthy life.
