WHARTON — The Wharton County Junior College Choir will celebrate the 250th anniversary of America for its concert, “American Tapestry: A Choral Journey.” The performance is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at the Horton Foote Theatre in the Duson-Hansen Fine Arts Building on the Wharton campus.
It’s free of admission and open to the public.
The concert will feature patriotic classics, including “When the Saints Go Marching In,” “Riverside,” “Shenandoah,” a modern arrangement of “Old
Joe Clark," and "You'll be Back" from the popular mu sical Hamilton.
The concert begins with a choral arrangement of “The Pledge of Allegiance.”
Tributes to veterans — “American Heroes: A Salute to the Armed Forces” and “To Those Who Served” — are planned. Some music department alumni will join the WCJC Choir in the performance.
“This will be a rousing, patriotic concert that celebrates the red, white and blue,” said WCJC Choir Director Dr. Karl Paoletti.
