Weimar Public Library hosts presentation on Orchids found in the wild

WEIMAR — Incredible photos and insightful descriptions of orchids found in the wild in Texas will impress and inspire you when you attend Friends of the Weimar Public Library’s, “Wild Orchids of Texas.”

Joe Liggio, biologist and photographer, brings this free program on Friday, March 27 at 10 a.m. at the library.

Texas wild orchids are known for their unique and intricate flowers, offering an array of distinct shapes and colors.

There are about 55 native species, three subspecies and two non-native introduced species of orchids, providing a vibrant display of color, and elegance.

Texas orchids are rare hidden treasures, and the Liggios’ “Wild Orchids of Texas” will show where to seek the elusive flower to its bloom ing season and its distribution through the state, with a list by color, county, and habitat. Known for their exotic beauty, the delicate bloom of the Texas orchid will be on display through Liggio’s photographic prowess.
