Radio personality Darrel Appelt receives Community Builder Award

COLUMBUS — Country music and news you could use. Darrel Appelt has been the voice everyone has listened to for the latest and greatest Country music. in the KULM listening area. When

his voice came over the radio, you

knew you were on FM 98.3. For over 25 years, Appelt has provided entertainment, news, views and local events in and around Colorado County.

Appelt is a 41-year member of the Columbus Lions and has won the Columbus Chamber Volunteer of the Year Award, the Columbus ISD Media Honor Roll, the Colorado County Crimestoppers Service Award, the Boys and Girls Club of Champion Valley Award, and the Columbus FFA Honorary Chapter Degree. He has been on his church council, coached youth sports in baseball, football and basketball, and served on the CASA Board.

Appelt has been married to his wife, Melanie for 42 years and has two sons and four grandchildren.

His conservative Christian roots stand out in all he does.

He is a professional musician and songwriter who has released three original albums worldwide. Caledonia Lodge, #68 in Colum bus, presents the Columbus Build- er Award to recognize non-Ma - sons who provide outstanding service to Colorado County.

It is a high-level recognition often bestowed by Texas lodges.

Appelt’s “servant heart” makes a difference in the community.
