COLUMBUS — Columbus Boy Scouts joined the Great American Clean Up by helping to Keep Columbus Beautiful.

Scoutmaster Scott Matus led the team of scouts who removed litter from Veterans Drive and Hwy. 90. Some parents also helped remove litter.

This year, as America celebrates its 250th anniversary, individuals and groups are working across our country to remove litter.

In Texas, Keep Texas Beautiful encourages Texans to participate in the Greatest American Cleanup from March 1 to May 31 in honor of America’s 250th anniversary.

The Greatest American Cleanup is a national program that encourages communities to clean and beautify their cities and towns.

Projects include beau- tification events, recycling events, litter cleanups, and more.

Columbus citizens who want to help their community can participate in the Great American Cleanup by completing a project in May.

Any project in a public area in our community that needs attention qualifies.
