Live Oak designated as Liberty Tree

Live Oak designated as Liberty Tree
A live oak tree growing in Columbus, thought to be 250 years old, was dedicated as the Liberty Tree in celebration of America’s 250year anniversary. The tree is at the Columbus Veteran’s Park on Veterans Drive in Columbus. Tom Jackson, right, the main speaker in period clothing, gave the presen- tation. He is flanked by the Viet nam Veterans of America, Chapter 1127, with the tree and plaque in the background. Other groups who participated in the dedication were Sons of the American Revolution, the John Everett Chapter and the Columbus Cardinal High School Band. Photo by John Jones, Banner Press
