COLUMBUS — The Colorado County Commissioners Court and Judge Ty Prause presented a proclamation designating May as Mental Health Month.
Mental illness affects one in five adults each year, with nearly one in six youths, ages six to 17, experiencing some type of mental disorder annually. Suicide is among the leading causes of death for young people. Depression and anxiety are the most common mental health disorders.
As Texas grows, so does the need for Mental Health. Most people with mental illnesses can improve sig- nificantly with treatment, support, faith, connection and early intervention.
