COLUMBUS — Columbus Garden Club has been giving scholarships since the 2001-2002 year. All graduating seniors in Columbus are eligible to apply. Funds for the scholarships are earned via the annual garden club Scholarship Quilt, a Silent Auction and the Scholarship Garden Cart drawing during the annual Garden Club Plant Sale.
This year’s recipients are Will Chavez Jr. and Cooper Osborne.
Chavez has distinguished himself through his dedication, perseverance, and commitment to both his school and community.
A graduate of Columbus High School, he plans to attend The University of Texas at San Antonio to study Environmental Science and pursue a career as an environmental scientist.
Osborne has excelled academically, athletically, and in leadership throughout his high school career. Ranked eighth in his class with a 4.1 GPA, he plans to attend Texas Tech University to study Agribusiness with the goal of building a future in agriculture through his own cattle operation and business ventures.
