COLUMBUS — The Columbus Independent School District Board of Trustees officially approved the hiring of Dr. Chris Carpenter as the district’s next superintendent during the board meeting held on May 14.
Carpenter will officially begin serving as superintendent on June 1. Carpenter was named the lone finalist for the position on April 22, following a comprehensive search process conducted in partnership with TASB Executive Search Services.
The process included communi- ty and staff input, leadership profile development, and multiple rounds of interviews with highly qualified candidates. The board of trustees is excited to welcome Carpenter to Columbus ISD and looks forward to his leadership as the district continues its commitment to student success, staff support, and community engagement.
Carpenter most recently served as assistant superintendent of Slaton Independent School District and brings a wealth of educational leadership experience to Columbus ISD.
