FAYETTE COUNTY — Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reported that an arrest has been made in the fatal shooting that occurred at the “Best Thang Smoking” trail ride at the R.C. Pavilion on Munke Road on April 26 in Fayette County.

Lieutenant David Beyer of the Fayette County Sheriff's Office said after a lengthy investigation and interviews of witnesses, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office Investigators and the Texas Rangers were able to obtain information and evidence that led to identifying the suspect and obtaining a warrant. This came after the shooting; early on, people were trying to leave the area as quickly as they could.

“A lot of folks were in panic mode,” Beyer said. “People were trying to get out of the area. It’s one-way in and one-way out. So officers had a difficult time get ting in there. And when they did get in there, they located the individual. They started lifesaving measures and the individual was transported by EMS to the Smithville hospital. He did not make it.”

The victim of the fatal shooting was Alzavier Hall, 24, of Snook.

Robert Earl Crawford III, 19, of Somerville, is charged with the offenses of Murder and Aggravated Assault Mass Shooting and has been indicted by a Fayette County Grand Jury. He is being held in custody at a Federal corrections unit stemming from an arrest on an unrelated charge.
