FAYETTE COUNTY - Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek report - ed that on June 6, around 10:58 p.m., Deputy Cody Williams conducted a traffic stop on Interstate-10 near Fla - tonia. Williams made contact with the driver, Roland R. Champion Jr., 24, and passenger, Emily Guadalupe Mendoza, 22, both of San Antonio. Champion did not possess a driver's license. Champion and Mendoza stated inconsistencies in their travel timeline. Williams requested consent to search the vehicle and was denied consent. Officer Byron Powe with the Schulenburg Police Department de - ployed K9 Semper to conduct a freeair sniff around the exterior of the vehicle and alerted to the odor of nar -

cotics. Williams conducted a prob - able-cause search and located nine bundles of a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine. Champion and Mendoza were arrested and charged with Manu - facture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance. The total weight of the suspected bundles of methamphet -

amines was 20.2 pounds.
