What started as a wide-open field of five candidates running for the job of Fayette County judge narrowed to two Republican can - didates by the time the May 26 election reached the finish line. The two Joshs, Josh Homan and Josh Vandever, delivered a neckand-neck sprint until the final votes were counted.
The drama was not a drama leading up to the final count. Both sides ran a good, friendly cam - paign and gave the citizens what they wanted and needed - facts of their own agenda if elected. In the end, Flatonia, Cistern, Ammansville and Schulenburg swung heavily in favor of Homan, with Flatonia delivering the edge with 79.49% of the votes. Van - dever's votes were spread evenly across the county but not enough to take the final lead across the finish line.
The official results were can - vassed and approved on June 4 with Homan winning by 13 votes. Final tallies were 2,299 for Ho - man and 2,286 for Vandever.
County Judge Dan Mueller decided not to seek reelection and there were no Democratic chal -
lengers up for the ballot in the November General Election.
