FAIR CONTESTANTS BEING SOUGHT
COLUMBUS — Contestants are being sought for the Colorado County Fair Queen and Junior Queen contests to be held Saturday, Sept. 5 at the Founder’s Hall at the Colorado County Ag Complex and Fairground in Columbus. Girls between the ages of 15-18 can enter the Queen Scholarship Pageant and girls 11-14 can enter the Junior Queen Contest. Contestants can sign up online at www.coloradocountyfair. org. Deadline to enter is Sunday, June 28. A mandatory meeting for contestants will be held Sunday, June 28 at 6 p.m. on the grounds of the Colorado County Courthouse in Columbus. TASTE OF COLUMBUS PLANNED
COLUMBUS — The Taste of Columbus will be held Thursday, July 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Southern Oaks Event Center at 1368 Highway 71 Business in Columbus. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. The event will include live music, food tasting, live and silent auction, and raffle tickets. Purchase raffle tickets and wristbands at your local club. Proceeds to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Champion Valley.

LA GRANGE — The public is invited to celebrate the 25th year as a federated club of the Texas Federation of Republican Women with the Fayette County Republic Women at their special meeting being held Wednesday, July 1 at 6 p.m. at Sealand Seafood & Steaks at 2359 W. St. John the Baptist will hold Mass at 9 a.m. and a flag raising ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. The stew and fried chicken meal will begin serving, dine-in or take home, at 10:30 a.m. for $14 per plate. CVFD TO HOLD FUNDRAISER CARMINE - The Carmine Volunteer Fire De - partment will hold its annual firemen's fundraiser Sun day, July 19 at Carmine Hall. The fried chicken dinner, drive-thru only will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out. Donations accepted as payment for the meal. Eckermann’s sausage links available for $10 each.

EL FIREWORKS SHOW SLATED EAGLE LAKE —The 28th Annual Eagle Lake Fireworks Show will be held Friday, July 3 beginning at 9:15 p.m. at the usual location at 1099 Calhoun Road in Eagle Lake. The community-funded tradition will celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with a patriotic show beginning at 9:15 p.m. Admission is free, and donations are welcomed to support the event.
