WEIMAR — A recent highspeed chase that originated in Harris County ended up in the parking lot at the McDonald’s in Weimar where the K-9 from the Colorado County Sheriff's Office bit off more than a McDouble.
Desmond Devonte Bowie, 26, was a suspect connected to a stabbing in Harris County. The Austin County Sheriff's Office was noti - fied of the pursuit and then noti -
fied the Colorado County Sheriff's Office. Bowie then exited into
Weimar and pulled into the Mc-Donald’s parking lot. Weimar PD assisted ACSO and CCSO with the apprehension of Bowie.
Bowie was placed into the Colorado County jail in Columbus by the arresting agency, the Colorado County Sheriff's Office.
Charges filed are Evading Ar rest/Detention with Vehicle, bail was set at $50,000, and Resist Arrest Search or Transport, bail set at $25,000, Aggravated Assault Date/Family/House with Weapon, no bail and Theft with no bail.
Bowie is presumed innocent until proven guilty. He remains in the county jail as of press time.
