BELLVILLE - Despite rainy weather throughout the day, the 2026 Back-to-School Health Fair on July 15 at Bellville High School remained a meaningful success as fami- lies, volunteers, and commu nity partners came together to ensure Austin County students were prepared for the new school year.
A total of 282 children, parents, and community part ners participated in the annual event, which was made pos sible through a collaborative effort between Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Austin County, the Aus tin County Department of State Health Services, and the Austin County Family and
Consumer Sciences Advisory Board. Generous support from the Bellville Lions Club and WoodmenLife of Sealy helped make this year's event possible.
Throughout the health fair, 198 backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed to students from Austin County school districts and Head Start, helping ensure children had the tools needed to begin the school year with confidence. In addition, 28 represen tatives from 23 local agencies provided valuable health screenings, educational in - formation, and community resources designed to support the health and well-being of children and their families.
Although the weather may have limited attendance, the day's purpose remained unchanged: to connect fami- lies with services, encourage healthy beginnings, and help meet the needs of children throughout Austin County.
Every backpack distributed, every resource shared, and ev - ery family served reflected the strong spirit of partnership that continues to make this event a valued community tradition.
