Letter to the editor ...

Calling all voting Texans of Austin County. We are circulating a petition asking for a ban on Datacenters and other High-Energy, High-Water/Resourse-Consumption Facilities in Texas until regulations can be passed.

What the petition says: We ask the Texas Legislature to call for a special session immediately to pass a ban on data centers, battery energy storage systems, 765kV lines, large scale power genera - tion facilities like nuclear plants, wind and solar farms and other related data center facilities until guardrails can be passed. This time is needed to evaluate the impact to county infrastructure and public safety systems and put into place much needed guardrails. If a special session is not called immediately, during the November elections, I will be carefully weighing who represented me and who represented Big Tech.

Who is "We": A grassroots nonpartisan movement, made up of voting Texans from all counties.

Where are petitions available: Bellville - Danny's Automotive, 418 N. Chesley St., Bellville, Texas, 77418, Newman's Bakery, 504 E.
