LA GRANGE - This month is the opry’s annual tribute to the late and great Hank Williams Sr., born on Sept. 17, 1923, in Mount Olive, Ala., an American singer, songwriter, and musician who became country music's first superstar.
Known for clas- sics like Your Cheatin' Heart, Hey, Good Lookin', and Lovesick Blues, he blended honky-tonk, blues, and gospel into heartfelt, poetic songs.
Despite charting dozens of hits and influencing art ists from Johnny Cash to Bob Dylan, his career was marred by alcoholism, back pain, and personal turmoil.
Dying on Jan. 1, 1953, at the age of 29, in Oak Hill, West Virginia. In 1953, he was posthumously inducted into multiple halls of fame and awarded a Pulitzer Prize Special Citation for his impact on American music.
Wyatt Aleman, portray- ing the late great Hank Wil liams, will sing and play his songs.
Aleman is from Harwood, who loves playing the fiddle and steel guitar.
He loves playing traditional country music and western swing music. Be- sides fiddle and steel guitar, he plays upright bass, gui- tar, drums, keyboard, and mandolin. In October 2025, Aleman was awarded the “Traditional Country Artist of the Year for 2026 by the CMA of Texas. In May of 2024, he was inducted into The Cowtown Society of Western Music as a “Rising Artist of the Year.”
