EMS director resigns as EMS partnership

COLORADO COUNTY/LAVACA COUNTY — Michael Furrh, EMS director for Colorado and Lavaca counties, has submitted his resignation as the joint EMS director for both counties. Under a Memorandum of Understanding, signed on Sept. 6, 2022, between Colorado and Lavaca counties, Furrh became the joint EMS director, while receiving a shared salary.

Furrh tendered his resignation, effective Oct. 31, citing that the split director position has become too much for one person to handle. His Oct. 31 effective date allows the legal transition time for DEA licenses and other certifications to be transferred.

Colorado County found that there is a need for a full-time director of EMS as demand for EMS resources has grown and has outgrown the need for a split EMS director position.
