COLUMBUS — The Colorado County Household Hazardous Waste and Recyclable Materials Collection Day was deemed a success as vehicles lined up to legally rid themselves of hazardous waste such as household chemicals and cleaners, camp stove propane bot- tles, fluorescent light bulbs, paints, stains, and varnishes.
The collection day started on Sept. 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Colorado County Fairgrounds in Columbus.
The long lines attested to the fact that residents held on to their toxic materials in anticipation of the collection day.
The event was made possible by Houston-Galveston Area Council and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
