WEIMAR - The Weimar High School football team were defeated by Shiner High School by a final score of 62-0 Oct. 2 at Wildcat Stadium in Weimar.

Shiner was very productive on offense and Weimar couldn’t find an answer for it. They also played a stellar game on defense and held the Wildcats scoreless.

“That’s a really good program with a rich tradition,” said Weimar head football coach Dylan Conway. “Each game, it doesn’t matter who they’re playing, they’re gonna be at their best. When you play someone like that, you gotta be at your best. Tonight, I don’t think we were. Not taking anything away from them. They had a great plan of attack in every phase of the game. We just got to move forward. At the end of the day, we’re not headed to the next season. We still have more district games to play. This doesn’t mean anything in terms of a playoff spot. For us, it’s getting healthy. We’re banged up again, so we just gotta keep putting our best foot forward and have a game plan. Keep showing up for each other.”

Shiner was up 27-0 nearing the end of the second quarter, then ran for a QB sneak in the final seconds to take a 34-0 lead at halftime.

Shiner went on to score two more touchdowns with one being at the 5:54 mark in the third quarter on a long run, which was followed by one of the biggest plays of the game for Weimar on a long run up to near midfield by Treycen Espitia.

Shiner scored their final touchdown of the quarter with 1:27 to go to take a 55-0 advantage at the end of the third quarter, which led to their final touchdown for the game at the 2:43 mark in the fourth quarter on a pitch play to win it 62-0.
