SCHULENBURG — The John Everett Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) recognize Audrey Meyer Smyth for her outstanding American flag display for the month of October. Her home is at 905 Anderson St. in Schulenburg.

When she and her husband moved into their home, Scott’s brother Mike gifted them a flag -

pole. It was the first home they had ever owned with a flagpole,

and they were proud to display the American flag. After Scott passed

away, Audrey continued the tradi- tion. She replaces the flag when ever it becomes worn or tattered and proudly raises a new one. She joked that she has tried for years to win “Yard of the Month,” but said this recognition is even better.

Audrey is involved with Columbus Rescue Dogs, where she fosters dogs, attends fundraisers, and helps secure donors for the organization.

At the presentation, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited, and David Zachmeyer discussed the Battle of the White 1781Plains which happened in October 1776.
