Weimar smokes Bloomington at homecoming

WEIMAR — The Weimar High School football team defeated Bloomington High School Oct. 23 at Wildcat Sta- dium by a final score of 44-8. Weimar had the offense going from the very beginning and also displayed a stellar de - fensive performance to earn the big win.

"Defensive wise, it was assignment football," said Weimar head football coach Dylan Conway. “I thought we did a great job in two weeks of getting that accomplished. Offensively, it was to kind of get back to where we wanted to be. Be able to be on the ball in a hurry from the gun or under center and establish the line of scrimmage. They are big and that was one big con - cern coming into it was their size up front and I thought our guys did a great job of being the more physical team tonight and setting the tone early." Wildcats quarterback Col - lin Morrison had the offense going the entire night, whether it was on the ground or through the air.

"Just making sure every - body's in line," Morrison said. "Where we're supposed to be. Coach Conway draws up some great plays and we just gotta be able to execute them at the right time."

After a 0-0 tie at the end of the first quarter, Weimar went on to score 30 unanswered points in the second quarter on an eight-yard run from, a short touchdown catch from Josiah Okeke, and a 15-yard touch - down run at the 5:11 mark from Ty Chmelik to take a 30-0 lead at halftime.

A run around the edge with 4:49 to go in the third quarter for a touchdown from Lucas Moreno made it 37-0, then Bloomington responded with a goal line touchdown in the fi nal seconds of the third quarter to make it 37-8 after a convert ed two-point conversion.

Another touchdown run from Weimar around the out- side near the Weimar sideline at the 8:33 mark in the fourth quarter added to their big scor -

ing game as they were able to seal it with a 44-8 win.
