COLUMBUS - The dead tell no tales-except one night each year during the Live Oaks and Dead Folks Cemetery Tour. The Nesbitt Memorial Library Foundation (NMLF) hosts the 23rd annual Live Oaks and Dead Folks Cemetery Tour on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the historic Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in Colum bus. The actors are back!

Costumed guides will lead visitors by lantern light along the paths while talent- ed actors-in full historical regalia-bring the departed to life through firsthand sto ries. This year's lineup shines a light on powerhouses who rose from local soil to high office-including a Texas Attorney General, a Lieu - tenant Governor, and a Su -

preme Court Justice. The tour also honors local fig - ures within the memory of some of our long-time resi- dents, such as Louise Dick, Sam Harbert, Myrah Jane Draper, and the E.B. Mayes family.

"History isn't just tucked away in dusty books-it's right beneath our feet," said Tracey Wegenhoft, presi - dent of the Nesbitt Memo - rial Library Foundation.

"Truth is really stranger, richer, and far more enter - taining than fiction!" Proceeds support the Nesbitt Memorial Library, which includes children's programs, archives, and the ongoing restoration efforts

for the historic Gegenworth House.
