EAGLE LAKE — The Rice Medical Center in Eagle Lake broke new ground on Oct. 21 to kick off the expansion of the old Eagle Lake Hospital. The gold shovel was used during the groundbreaking ceremony 50 years ago, with the chrome shovel to commemorate the future the Rice Medical Center holds for its citizens and those who utilize the services of its medical staff.

Rice Medical Center provides specialty services with advanced care in cardiology, podiatry, dermatology, nephrology, wound care and surgery, as well as an exemplary emergency room.

The expansion will give patients access to a wellness center, rehabilitation center and aquatics.
