Moulton KC Council donates to the Queen of the Holy Rosary in Hostyn
HOSTYN – A $1,000 donation was recently deposited into the Matching Funds Campaign account at Fayette Savings Bank for the benefit of the Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn, rebuilding fund by the Moulton Knights of Columbus Council #3244.

Everyone loves a parade
COLUMBUS – The Columbus FFA parade jumped off on time on March 4, in downtown Columbus. Between the flags and the horses were floats, tractors and trailers, and firetrucks some filled with kids and adults throw ing candy to eager crowd. The parade is the lead up to the Columbus FFA Show and Sale that was held on the same day.

La Grange Leopard musicians advance
SMITHVILLE – The La Grange Leopard band released the names of the musicians who participated in the UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest in Smithville. Out of 46 Leopard contestants, 31 will be advancing to the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest that will be held Memorial Day Weekend. Those advancing to state are Class I Soloists Jose Estrada, trumpet, Westin Smith, Euphonium, Trey Dalton, Marimba, Josh Little, Marimba, Gabriel Vega, Marimba and Juan Zuniga, Marimba.

EAGLE LAKE – The Eagle Lake Noon Lions Club welcomed special speakers, Odette Elliston, LCSW, right, and Denise Sklar, left, who informed the Lions about “Lighthouse Eagle Lake”, the Geriatric Intensive Outpatient Program provided by the Rice Medical Center on Thursday, March 9. Odette serves as the Director and Denise serves as the Assessment Coordinator of this program designed specifical ly for senior citizens who may be overwhelmed with the process of aging.

Banana on the Street!
Did you see the Big Banana on the street? We did, too! The Big Banana Car came to Columbus! The owner and driver is Steve Braithwaite! He is an Englishman living in the US and is in our area of Texas because he is headed to the Orange Show's Houston 36th Annual Art Car Parade in April. Steve travels all over the US and lives off of donations for rides. There were lines of kiddos and adults alike on Feb 26, waiting to take a joyride in the Big Banana Car.

COLUMBUS –Nesbitt Memorial Library Director Susan Chandler spoke before the library ribbon-cutting ceremony on Feb. 16, saying, 'This monu- mental day celebrates a five-year update of the Nesbitt Memorial Library. As you look around, you will find vintage items along with modern ones to bring us into the 21st Century library. I want to recognize the vision of the Nes bitt Memorial Library Foundation and Library Boards and the support of the Mayor, City Council, and many City colleagues and Friends of the Library. Jessica Commanda, Eric Braden, Su- san Archuletta and Cody Graves have provided stability to our patrons and done a lot of work through all of our phases!

Fish and oysters brings community together
COLUMBUS The smell of food was in the air last Sun day as the Columbus Volunteer Fire Department hosted its annual Fish and Oyster Fry at the KC Hall in Columbus. Hundreds of cars lined up for the drive-through service, and just as many parked in the parking lot and lined the streets to get meals.

There is a kid’s cartoon about a little bear. In fact, the name of the cartoon is Little Bear. Anyone with kids will know Little Bear. Well, those who had kids, say, 10 years ago. Now, I don’t think many kids watch Little Bear. That show is almost better than Peppa Pig. Little Bear had built-in lessons that taught kids about life and such.
