Columbus Garden Club invites public to Fall Flower Show
COLUMBUS – Columbus Garden Club will be having a flower show Wednesday, Nov. 8 at the Nesbitt Library at Washington Street and Bowie Street in Columbus. The show will be open and free to the public between noon and 3 p.m. Come by and see just how creative and talented these garden club ladies are as they show entries in Horticulture and entries in Design. The theme of this year’s show is Let’s Celebrate.

Halloween History - And the Art of Fake News
On the morning of Oct. 31, 1938, American newspapers coast-to-coast ran headlines describing the mass panic resulting from a CBS radio broadcast the previous night. Terrified listen ers, believing the dramatized play to be real, thought they were witnessing an alien invasion and subsequent attack on the small town of Grover’s Mill, New Jersey. Phone calls to radio stations, newspaper offices, and the police convinced many that the broadcast caused a national hysteria. A story too silly to be taken seriously was, and the resulting panic became national news. In all of pop culture history, this is one of the most fascinating and bizarre stories you will ever hear.

WALDECK - The Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) has de - cided to discontinue serving food as a drive-thru format. Now the Waldeck food truck will have food distribution as a walk-up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags and boxes. A few wagons will be furnished by CTFB, but if the client has their own wagon, please bring it. Waldeck food truck is on third Saturdays of each month from 10 to 11 a.m. The 2023 dates are: Nov. 18 and Dec. 16.
