Altair Disposal Services permit before TCEQ Commissioners Sept. 11

AUSTIN — Altair Disposal Services and Clean Harbors’ application for a hazardous waste disposal permit at their existing facility near Altair will go before the commissioners of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Monday, Sept. 11.

Earlier this year, a pair of administrative law judges, following a lengthy contested case hearing, issued a proposal for decision recommending that the commissioners deny Altair Disposal Services’ permit application.

The commissioners of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality are the final authority for the agency when it comes to issuing permits in contested cases. The commissioners, who are appointed by the governor, make up a three-member board. One position is currently vacant.
