Vivian Alonso selected Parade of Lights grand marshal in EL
EAGLE LAKE — Vivian Alonso of Eagle Lake has been chosen the Eagle Lake Chamber of Commerce 2018 Parade of Lights grand marshal that will be held Saturday, Dec. 8.
The parade will get started at 6:45 p.m.
Alonso is a lifetime resident of Eagle Lake. She was born April 17, 1966, to Frank and Mary Cumpian. Her siblings include Iris Cumpian, Sandy Cumpian (deceased) and Randy Cumpian (deceased).
She is married to Roberto Alonso Sr. Their children are Sonia Ann Mariscal (deceased), Sofia Ann Mariscal and Lorenzo Mariscal II; daughter-in-law, Sarah Watson Mariscal and Robert Alonso Jr.; and a granddaughter, Mia Neveah Torres.
Alonso’s first job was working at the Dairy Delite in the eighth grade. During her high school years, she worked at the Rice Drug Store located in downtown Eagle Lake. She then worked at Wilcox Minimax in the bakery department and as a cashier. In 1989, she was employed by the Eagle Lake Drug Store and has been employed there as a certified pharmacy tech for 29 years.
She enjoys spending time with her family, and enjoys cooking and baking. Even though she is not able to eat what she cooks because of her battles with cancer, she still loves to cook and bake for her family and friends.
