Fayette Fair royalty crowned

Cierra Fitzpatrick was crowned the 2020 Fayette County Fair’s Scholarship Queen last Thursday night at the Marge Rosenberg Performing Stage at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange. The court included, from left, queen Fitzpatrick, with $10, 955.25; third runner-up Halie Peter with $5,180 in ticket sales; first runner-up Raygen Pyle with $8,710 in ticket sales; Miss Photogenic and Miss Congeniality Abigail Stockton: Tiyonna Washington; and second runner-up and Miss Beauty and Poise Layne Morgan Wied with $8,155 in ticket sales. The seven contestants had total combined ticket sales of $40,595.25.

Members of Austin County State Bank recently presented the Austin County Sheriff’s Office with Peach Cobbler recognizing National Peach Pie Day, showing their support of first responders in the Austin County community. On hand for the presentation were, from left, Austin County State Bank representatives Kim Shoquist, Erin Sodalak, Doris Hagen, Melissa Huffman and Tracey Garcia; and Austin County Sheriff’s Office representatives Sheriff Jack Brandes, Capt. Buddy Riddle, Lt. Billy Ruemke, Jail Lt. Rebecca Kmiec, Deputy Keith Brast and Operations Coord. David Watson. Brandes expressed the sheriff’s office its appreciation for the support from the local businesses.
