Marjorie Sam (Bridges) Rutta, 85, of Columbus, Texas, passed away on March 26, 2026, in Katy, Texas.

Marjorie was born on July 12, 1940, to Preston Samuel Bridges and Irma Clair (Funderburk) Bridges, in Grapeland, Texas. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1958. On April 26, 1960, she married Sidney G. Rutta.

Marjorie worked as a typist and abstracting assistant at Elliott & Waldron Abstract Company for many years.

She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Columbus.

Marjorie is survived by her son, Barry Douglas Rutta; grandson Austin Jeffrey Rutta; sisters-in-law Margaret Bridges and Judy Bridges; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Preston Bridges and Irma Bridges; husband Sidney G. Rutta; sons Brian Jeffrey Rutta and Robert Gregg Rutta; and brothers Kenneth Ray Bridges, Victor Merle Bridges, and Ronald Wayne Bridges.

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in Columbus, Texas. Pastor Victor Morrison officiated. Burial took place in Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in Columbus, Texas.
