FRANK “JACK” CYRIL CERNOSEK

February 27, 34 — May 13, 2026

Frank “Jack” Cyril Cernosek, 92, of La Grange, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026. Born February 27, 1934, in the Williams Creek area, Jack lived a life rooted in hard work, friendship, family, and a deep love for country music and community tradition.

Jack began hauling milk as a young teenager and spent decades working tirelessly in the dairy industry, ranching, hauling gravel, and caring for the land he loved. In 1959, he opened the legendary Post Oak Inn, which became a longtime gathering place where stories were shared, friendships were formed, and memories were made for generations.

Known for his sharp style, larger-than-life personality, and love of traditional country music, Jack proudly supported the Hank Williams New Year’s Tribute on KVLG-KBUK for more than 50 years and remained devoted to preserving the music and traditions he cherished. He also shared a longtime friendship with Fayette County Judge Dan Mueller through their shared love of classic country music.

More than 35 years ago, Jack married the love of his life, Donella Dopslauf-Cernosek, and together they enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, especially old Westerns and Saturday nights at home.

Above all, Jack will be remembered for his storytelling, generosity, sense of humor, and the way he made everyone feel welcome. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched, the traditions he helped preserve, and the countless memories shared by family and friends.

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Donella Dopslauf-Cernosek; special nieces, Donna Jo Webb-Wessels and Liz Harris; his sisters, Lillie Mae Tiedt and Rosalie Stevenson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Daisy Cernosek; his brothers, Richard and Edwin “Corner” Cernosek; and his sister, Frances Kana.

A Celebration of Life honoring Jack will be held Friday, June 5, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall in La Grange. Family and friends are invited to gather to share stories, laughter, music, and memories in honor of a man whose life and friendships meant so much to so many.
