a George was born February 4, 1948, in Weslaco, Texas, to Ida Mae Burleson and Louis C. Matej. He was the fifth of six children: Sis ters (Delores West, Patsy Cambell and Barbara Webb); Brothers (Leon Matej and Darrell Matej).

George graduated from Donna High School, was Army Veteran stationed in Nuremberg, Germany. Flew the German Czech border. Upon his return to civilian life he returned to oilfield. He worked for several Com panies including Storm Drilling Co., Global Marine, Global Stanta Fe and finally retiring from Transoceans to

begin ranching.

George is survived by his loving wife Kandy Davis Matej; two children Justin C. (JC) and his wife Christina Matej, daughter Michelle and her husband Justin Patterson; three grandchildren Madeleine Patterson, Jasmine Davila and Gilberto Davila; and one great grandson Zaryn Repass.

George made many friends around the world and always ready to work hard or play hard especially if it included a 'cold one'! A true ,
