Richard Lee Meyer, 88, of Columbus, Texas, passed away on July 16, 2025 in Weimar, Texas.

He was born on March 17, 1937 to Walter J. Meyer and Helen F. (Zajicek) Meyer in Columbus, Texas. On November 9, 1958 he married Ottilia A. Kulhanek.

Richard worked as a driver for Dr. Pepper and was a supervisor at Thorsenburg, Ideal, and Pioneer Gravel for many years.

He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus #2971. Richard managed the KC Hall and was on the Board of Directors at Glidden Fresh Water District.

Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and most recently working out on fitness machines at the gym.

Richard is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Ottilia Meyer; daughter Renee Schoppe and husband Doug; sons Richard Meyer and wife Bonnie and Rodney Meyer and wife Lori; brother Dale Meyer and wife Sally; grandchildren Bryson Meyer and Parker Meyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Helen Meyer; sister Waldine Fruge; and daughter-in-law Amanda Meyer.

Visitation was held on Sunday, July 20, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus. Parish prayer service and K of C rosary followed at 5:00 PM.

Funeral service was Monday, July 21, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus. Fr. James Dvorak officiated. Visitation at church was from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

Burial took place in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Columbus.

Pallbearers were Tony Kubicek, Scottie Schobel, Bryson Meyer, Parker Meyer, Vince Howard, and Johnny Bethke. Honorary pallbearers were the Knights of Columbus #2971 members.
