Columbus Garden Club selects a Garden Angel
COLUMBUS - Brenda Boehm has been chosen as the Garden Angel for Columbus Garden Club 2023-24. Boehm has been in the garden club for 11 years. She routinely helps set up the club's meeting rooms, assists elderly members, plants pots and waters around the Colorado County Courthouse square in Columbus, and helps decorate down town for the Fall season as well as dec- orate the Colorado County Fairgrounds entrance for the Colorado County Fair. She has chaired the club's bake sale many times, the Scholarship Wagon, the Brookwood Volunteer Program, the E-Cycle program, and worked the Trash Off Event.

Columbus Education Foundation awards another Classroom Grant
COLUMBUS - Amanda Opperman, the sixth and eighth teacher at Columbus Junior High recently received a grant to take her students on a field trip to the NASA Space Center Houston. The Columbus Education Foundation (CEF) grant will cover the cost of the trip which is not in the budget allotted to her. Opperman was elated to get such a grant. Fugitive apprehended in Bellville

Texas gives $125 million to rural sheriffs and prosecutors
The 2023 legislation establishing the grant program also includes new equipment for rural sheriffs.
