COLUMBUS – The Columbus High School baseball team defeated Rice High School by mercy rule in five innings with a final score of 11-0. The Cardi nals hit the ball well throughout the entire game and also held their own on the defensive end not allowing a run.

Fayetteville's Fenhaus makes runner up finish in regional track
Cole Fenhaus from Fayetteville High School made a runner up finish in the 3200 event for the most recent regional track meet held in Jourdanton. Fenhaus fin - ished with a time of 10:30.89 and is likely to make the state tournament at University of Texas. He is known for making it to state and is usually near the top in all of his races.

A bunch of area qualifiers head to state golf
A select number of golfers from the area have made it to the UIL Golf State Tournament, which will be held at a select number of courses for each division. On Monday and Tuesday, April 29 and 30, the boys 4A will play at Legends Golf Course, 3A Grey Rock Golf Course, 2A Li ons Municipal Golf Course and 1A Plum Creek Golf Course.

John Everett Chapter, NSDAR Scholarship winners 2024
COLUMBUS – The John Everett Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution of Columbus has selected its scholarship winners for 2024. Each year, the chapter gives $600 scholarships to three outstanding Colorado County students. This year the winners are: Talyr Tipton of Columbus High School, Ariana Palacios of Rice High School, and Amy Christen of Weimar High School.
