City of Columbus receives over $16 million in grants
COLUMBUS–The Texas General Land Office came to Columbus on April 2, hefting two big grant checks in the amount of $16,829,489 to be used on needed infrastructure repairs in the city.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month
There is no excuse for child abuse. Statistics show that over 600,000 children a year are abused in the United States. There are over seven million children in the child welfare system, with over 15 percent of children abused in their first year of life. Girls suffer abuse more than boys.

Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA, agencies that serve 11 counties in the Bluebonnet region, the Children’s Advocacy Center that serves Bastrop, Lee and Fayette counties, and the SAFE Alliance are among the local organizations that support families affected by abuse and neglect.
