Outta’ Time
The year was 1955, and I was born into a world of excitement and wonder. By the time I was six, which seemed like an eternity to achieve, the world was my oyster and I could take my time to shuck it. Hay & Forage Producers encouraged to submit samples for analysis
The Beef & Forage Committee of Austin County encourages beef cattle producers to turn in a sample of their hay for analysis at this year’s Austin County Hay Show. In the coming months, hay samples will be accepted at different locations throughout Austin County. The analysis will be done by the Texas A&M Forage testing lab and results will be available after the Annual Fall Forage Seminar at the Austin County Fairgrounds on October 6 or mailed directly to the producer following the program. Each location will have entry forms and directions for collecting samples. Collection boxes will be provided. In addition, the analysis is offered free of charge to anyone growing or feeding hay to livestock.

FAYETTEVILLE – The rolling hills in the Fayetteville area is a fun-filled but challenging ride as the Fayetteville Good Old Bicycle Ride Classic pushes off on Sunday June 4 in downtown Fayetteville. The start point is at the Fayetteville Town Square at 8 a.m. and links road and gravel courses for a fresh 60 mile ride.

Two more murals to be completed this week
COLUMBUS – Anyone driving around Columbus these days must have seen one or two new murals going up in the Downtown area. The first is on the side of the Tri-County Realty - Double G Realty Group building on Milam Street across from the County Courthouse. The other is at the entrance to the newly named “Artist Alley,” in the 500 block of Walnut Street.

Fayetteville baseball keeps season alive
Lions baseball recently advanced in the postseason and have kept their playoff success on track as they defeated Medina High School May 11 in a double header by scores of 10-0 and 12-5. The Fayetteville offense has been scorching hot in crunch time as nearly the entire lineup recorded a hit in game one. In game two, the standouts were Lawson Fritsch and Travis Gully, who drove in five RBI's combined.

Sealy man gets 60 years in TDC
BELLVILLE – Travis Koehn, Criminal District Attorney for Austin County, announced that a jury sentenced Damien Eveline, 44, of Sealy, to 60 years in the Texas Department of Corrections. The jury found Eveline guilty of tampering with evidence and a Habitual Felony Offender under the law.
