La Grange holds off Rockdale in boys soccer with late goal
LA GRANGE – The La Grange High School boys soccer team defeated Rockdale High School March 7 at Leopards Field in La Grange by a final score of 2-0. The Leopards scored an ear- ly goal in the first 12 minutes of the game, then kept their cushion with their defense throughout the game and added another goal in the last minute to put the icing on the cake.

Everyone loves a parade
COLUMBUS – The Columbus FFA parade jumped off on time on March 4, in downtown Columbus. Between the flags and the horses were floats, tractors and trailers, and firetrucks some filled with kids and adults throw ing candy to eager crowd. The parade is the lead up to the Columbus FFA Show and Sale that was held on the same day.

La Grange Leopard musicians advance
SMITHVILLE – The La Grange Leopard band released the names of the musicians who participated in the UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest in Smithville. Out of 46 Leopard contestants, 31 will be advancing to the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest that will be held Memorial Day Weekend. Those advancing to state are Class I Soloists Jose Estrada, trumpet, Westin Smith, Euphonium, Trey Dalton, Marimba, Josh Little, Marimba, Gabriel Vega, Marimba and Juan Zuniga, Marimba.

Columbus One Act Play advances
The Columbus High School One-Act Play advanced to the Bi-District competition and took home several awards in the process. Cason Sunderman received the Overall Best Technician award for his sound engineering expertise. Kelci Weidemann won an All-Star Crew award. Kassie Garcia and Adam Baker received honorable mentions in acting. McKinsey Sizemore solidified Columbus' advancement by receiving an Overall Best Actress award for her role as Tess Moffatt. Columbus also came in second with the Best Tech Crew award.

Schulenburg Band on a hot streak
BASTROP – The streak continued this past Wednesday as the Schulenburg High School band competed at the UIL Concert & Sight-Reading contest in Bastrop. The band made a 1st division (superior rating) in both the concert and sightreading portion of the contest for the third year in a row! This is the highest rating possible.
