IRENE LILLE (VENGHAUS) NOSKA

August 24, 1924 — October 7, 2022

Irene Lillie (Venghaus) Noska 'Granny', 98, of Columbus, Texas passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on October 7, 2022.

She was born on August 24, 1924, to Edmund and Frieda (Gross) Venghaus in New Ulm, Texas. On June 12, 1945, she married the love of her life, Clemens Willie Noska. They were married for 69 1/2 years. Irene lived her lifetime in Columbus and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbus.

She worked in the fields as a child on her family farm. She loved to attend Zimmerscheidt School. However, she had to quit school to do the field work. Later in life, she was a loving home maker who enjoyed taking care of her family and her home. She enjoyed canning pickles and pears as well as baking pear pies. She loved to watch her children, grandchildren, and most recently her great grandchildren participate in sports and activities. She loved spending time with her family.

Irene is survived by her daughters Betty Jean Kotrla of Angleton, Texas, Pauline Nelson and her husband Gerion of Bernardo, Texas, and Debbie Hernandez and husband Eddie of Columbus, Texas; sons Gary Noska and wife Rita of Bellville, Texas, and Ricky Noska and wife Dana of Leander, Texas; 19 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmund Venghaus and Frieda Gross Venghaus, husband Clemens Willie Noska, son-in-law Alfred Kotrla, Jr., great grandson Drayton Allen Noska, and brothers Leroy Venghaus, Milroy Venghaus and Elroy Venghaus.

Visitation will be held at Henneke Funeral Home on Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home with Mike Morris officiating. Burial will take place in Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in Columbus, Texas. Pallbearers are Chad Noska, Todd Nelson, Zach Noska, Kris Kuhn, Bob Kotrla and Kenny Venghaus.

Honorary pallbearers are Donald Nelson, Brian Nelson, Steve Kotrla, Craig Noska, Cory Noska, Amber Kuhn, Ashley Roecker, Andrea Anderson, Ashton Wilson, Kylie Noska, Claire Noska, Alicia Leal, and Kaleb Kuhn.

The family would like to thank Andrea Carter, Mary Williams, Molly Garza, Carlene Upson, and Hospice Brazos Valley for the loving care they gave the past few months to “Granny”.
