Using information provided by some of the previously published “Footprints of Fayette” articles, we learn that the “old” Fayette County Jail, which stands at the corner of Crockett and South Main Street in La Grange, was completed in 1882, at a cost of $25,000. BELLVILLE - Austin Coun - ty Precint 1 Justice of Peace Judge Richard Yancey swore in Bellville Police Officer Johari Brown on Sept. 6 at the Austin County Justice Center in Bell - ville. Officer Brown becomes the first citizen of the community to be sponsored through the police academy by the City of Bellville. Officer Brown was chosen by an oral interview board consist - ing of citizens of Bellville. He is a 2016 Bellville High School graduate.
