Columbus Chamber of Commerce Leadership Colorado County overview
IRECTOR Leadership Colorado County will consist of nine (9) sessions held monthly on the second Wednes- day of each month September through May of each year. Sessions will cover but not limited to: leadership and leadership development; operations of local, state, and federal government; business and economic development; k-12 and higher education; health care; safety, law en- forcement, EMS, fire; agriculture, utilities, service organizations, and community development. Sessions will begin at 7:30 a.m. and end at 5:30 p.m. Most sessions will have a working lunch. Time may vary on the legislative day.

Electric demand could nearly double by 2030
The chief of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas told state lawmakers recently that the state’s power demand could nearly double in just six years. The reasons are population growth, new requests for grid connections, and a rise in requests from data centers and other heavy users.

The Fayette County Czech Heritage Society (CHS) met on June 11, in the Hanslik Hall at TCHCC in La Grange for its annual Piknik. Members and guests enjoyed visiting and singing Czech songs while Jimmy Fucik accompanied them on the accordion and a meal consisting of sausage wraps, sides, and desserts.

VVA 1127 presents to CHS seniors
COLUMBUS – At the VVA Chapter 1127 May meeting, six $1,000 scholarships were presented to local Columbus High School seniors. Caleb Rosales will attend TSTC in Waco to become a Biomedical Equipment Technician to help hospitals in need.

Vets come up on short end
The Weimar Vets hosted the Serbin Jackrabbits on June 16 at Strickland Field in Weimar Falling behind a hot hitting Jackrabbit team 12-2, the Vets scored seven runs in the bottom of the eighth to tighten the game with a 12-9 score, which proved to be the final score.
