Contamination of Skull Creek in Altair remains under investigation

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has announced that eyes are on the Altair Recycling facility, owned and operated by Inland Recycling, LLC, as the possible culprit in recent contamination events occurring at Skull Creek in Altair.

TCEQ Media Relations representative Marty Otero issued the following statement, “The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has ongoing investigations of complaints alleging discharges into Skull Creek and complaints relating to the operations of the Altair Recycling facility, located at 6254 Highway 71, Altair, Colorado County, Texas. Altair Recycling facility is an oil and gas waste recycling facility owned and operated by Inland Recycling, LLC. The operations of the Altair Recycling facility fall under multi-jurisdictional oversight by the TCEQ, the Railroad Commission of Texas, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The completed TCEQ investigation report will document any sampling activities conducted as well as any regulatory compliance findings under TCEQ’s jurisdiction. Once the report has been completed, a copy can be provided upon request.”
