Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar Announces Transfer of $2.9 Billion to State Highway and Rainy Day Funds

AUSTIN — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he recently completed the transfer of more than $2.91 billion into the State Highway Fund (SHF) and the Economic Stabilization Fund (ESF; commonly known as the “Rainy Day Fund”). Each fund received nearly $1.46 billion, or 50 percent of the total transfer.

Well, here we are! Yep, right at the precipice of a new year and so many of ya’ll are making New Year’s resolutions. If I were a gambler, my odds-on favorite will be, well, I don’t want to burst anyone’s bubble. Now, I don’t mean to sound like a Debbie Downer or a KillJoy. I believe everyone starts out with the best of intentions on resolutions when everyone is in the feel-good moment of looking positively toward the future or into their second six-pack. It’s just that as we get older (some of us are way older), we realize that sticking to New Year’s resolutions is odds of not gonna happen. Been there, done that too many times.

Winter wellness for the fur babies

It only takes a minute for the weather to change down in these parts of Texas. There will be those who will be caught unaware of the winter blast. It will be easy to settle down in a nice comfy recliner inside a nice warm house. But, did you take time to think about your animals that are stuck outside when the freezing wind blasts down from the north.
