The inaugural recipients of the Wanda Johnson Beaudry Stanzel Memorial Scholarship have been officially an nounced. This scholarship, established by Ted Stanzel in partnership with the Stanzel Family Foundation, commemorates the legacy of Wanda Johnson Beaudry Stanzel, who passed away in 2021.

EAGLE LAKE – The City of Eagle Lake hosted a town hall meeting on June 6 at the Eagle Lake Community Center. Up for discussion was the federally mandated replacement of lead and galvanized pipes on city service lines. Dyer Schitzkus, LCRR/I program director, was the main speaker.

Meth peddled in Praha
PRAHA – Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reported on June 5, the Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Praha. The unit had received complaints in reference to narcotics trafficking from this particular residence. The unit carried out an extensive investigation and found probable cause to believe methamphetamine was being dealt from the location.

Meet and Greet held in Weimar
WEIMAR - Weimar City Manag - er Richard Whitten and Weimar Police Chief Mark Jameson were on hand to meet Weimar residents and answer any questions May 30 at the Weimar Cham - ber Bash. Whitten came on board in early March of this year after a months-long search for a city manager since June 2023. Jameson took over the reigns of the Weimar Police Department in October 2023 and brings with him community policing policies.
